My daughter found out yesterday that her refund that was direct deposited onto an HR Block card, was not sent in that way by HR Block. For some reason they submitted only the mailing addresses to the IRS because it was too much trouble for them to determine if the cards where still open or not. I think this is very wrong. So now instead of having her check this week it wont come till end. We live in a poor area and I think this was terrible on the part of HR Block to do this.

I think HR Block should take some responsibility in not telling people how this may affect how they get their rebate checks. I did a Simple Pay, and it was deposited to my account. I thought I would get my check sooner (and direct deposited) and find out I may not get it until June?!?!? Because I used an H&R Bank product? I need it like, yesterday!
I also think this has been a learning experience for me. Next year, I will not file my taxes through H&R Block. I have used them for years, but this kind of mess is what turns people off.
H & R Block didn’t do this. The IRS set up the rules and addressed the issue of how payments would be received on their website.
Should Block have notified Emerald Card users? Yes, it would’ve been helpful.
The stimulus check will come from the IRS and will be sent to your daughter in the form of a paper check.
Honestly, this is neither the H&R nor the IRS fault. Ppl who opted to get the RAL/Emerald Cards should have understood that this was a temporary way to get their refunds.
Sometimes a little patience goes a long way. I am hoping that with this incentive (rebate stimulus money) that next year will allow ppl to do the right thing; by avoiding these ghastly schemes perpetrated by H&R Block to make extra funds simply so that you can get your money faster. Honestly, if you open an account, do your return with an online tax company and pay the fees, you can have your money FROM the IRS in 7-10 days…when you DD. In the end this mess that many Americans are now facing could have been avoided
BTW-I wasn’t trying to be rude.
I don’t really have an answer just a coment. I understand you saying it was wrong to put it back on her card exspecially with out them telling her that is what they were going to do, but you saying you live in a poor area, you have to just stop and think, that money isn’t owed to you it’s for your benifit so just be glad you are getting it either way.
