Hi everyone,

I filed my taxes with HR Block about 2 months ago; my experience was horrible. To make a long story short:

The agent who filed my taxes made a mistake on my taxes. She entered my business sales tax on the wrong lines, consequently she calculated an incorrect tax return. IRS caught the mistake and made an adjustment. It turns out the agent ‘t filed the wrong forms (I am a business owner, and she wasn’t even supposed to file my taxes). My tax return change dramatically! We’re talking about $1400 difference.

Right after I filed my taxes with HR Block, I called the agent to make sure my return was received and approved. The agent confirmed, and I mentioned to her that I will borrow money for my rent since it was due and that I wanted to make sure everything was alright. Agent assured me that unless I owe back taxes, my return was good to go. So I borrowed the money. In addition to her misleading information, she made a number of other mistakes on my return, AND YES I DID PURCHASE THE PROTECTION PLAN, but guess what.. made no difference. Not only that, but HR Block treated me so wrong, customer service was terrible, the information I got from agents was inconsistent and they took over a month to render my correct return.

I tried to take matters to officials of HR Block, but no one seems to take responsibility. I sent a letter to the District Manager and I was ignore, hung up on or simply kept on getting the run around. I am currently in a huge financial hole because of the money I borrowed. Initially when I informed them of my situation, HR Block said they would refund me the process fees, the protection plan fee and they would try to refund me the difference on my return error.

Well I just spoke with the District Manager’s Assistant, and she said they will only give me $100 which I would have to wait for 3 weeks, and they will not refund me any of the fees ( that I would need to take it as a civil matter against the agent who filed my return????? – I know!)

Anyhow, I am mentally, emotionally, and financially broken down because of this situation.

So please, if you are an attorney who can help me, or an individual who would like to share the horror story with HR Block and join me to pursue some legal action against HR Block, please do. I have heard from some friends that HR Block has been getting away with similar cases and I would like to take action for the rest of us.

my taxes were done at HR Block and my return was giving to me on an HR Block Card that I activated. Will my stimulus rebate get directly deposited there as well? Does this count as direct deposit? or should I expect a paper check for my stimulus rebate?

both me and my friend fillout out our Taxes using a tax program but then my friend didn’t think she was getting enough back so she took her taxes to HR Block now she told me she’s getting back 5800 but when we did the taxes on the program she only paid 3300 in taxes for the year . . she told me I should go to HR Block so I could get more back but I don’t believe you can get back more than you’ve paid or am I wrong ?

My daughter found out yesterday that her refund that was direct deposited onto an HR Block card, was not sent in that way by HR Block. For some reason they submitted only the mailing addresses to the IRS because it was too much trouble for them to determine if the cards where still open or not. I think this is very wrong. So now instead of having her check this week it wont come till end. We live in a poor area and I think this was terrible on the part of HR Block to do this.

Last year my girlfriend and I filed our taxes jointly. She had an unexpired ID, but mine was expired. We were able to file them successfully, but the worker seemed a bit ‘iffy’ about my expired ID.

This year both of our IDs are expired. Will we be able to file at an HR Block office?
