What is the average salary for HR Managers on the big Island of Hawaii?

Friday, October 31st, 2008
Guam Mom asked:

I am conducting an unofficial survey to determine the cost to relocate from Guam, where the cost of living is high, to Hawaii, where the cost of living is also high. However, I do not know about the salary base in Hawaii (Not Oahu). Since HR is a broad field, this position could be in several industries, but probably in service, financial or tourism areas in Hilo and Kailua-Kona.

Can I use the Human Resources Department of a former job as a professional reference?

Tasha L asked:

I just had an interview. I was called back for a second interview and they want me to bring in names and numbers of two professional references. I have three former supervisors who I know will give me a good reference, however, I haven’t kept in touch two of them. The one that I do speak to occassionally, I am having a hard time getting in touch with her. Can I use the Human Resource Department of a couple of my former jobs as a reference?

Has anyone heard about the Stimulas checks being released from HR Block?

Bonnie M asked:

My daughter found out yesterday that her refund that was direct deposited onto an HR Block card, was not sent in that way by HR Block. For some reason they submitted only the mailing addresses to the IRS because it was too much trouble for them to determine if the cards where still open or not. I think this is very wrong. So now instead of having her check this week it wont come till end. We live in a poor area and I think this was terrible on the part of HR Block to do this.

mandalove4501 asked:

my main experience is in customer service and clerical work but i’m not employed right now and have expressed interest in working in human resources since i’ve noticed that it’s high in demand when conducting my job search. The problem is that I have no experience in that department and no one will hire you unless you have the experience or the training/education. Are there special schools you can go to or can you attend a community college?

Should I pursue an MA in School Counseling or MS in Human Resources?

Sunday, October 5th, 2008
Sara G asked:

I have been in HR for three years now. I have my BS in HRD. I am not sure I want to continue my education and career in Human Resources. I have always pictured myself in an academic setting, but I’m not sure teaching is for me. I feel I would enjoy a School Counseling role and it would blend many of the attributes of my job that I DO like while also providing some flexibility in hours and a better environment.
